Trip Report Tuesday - WDW Day 5 Day 1 | Animal Kingdom + Dining in Pandora

Welcome back, Disney friends!  Ready for some more magic? Let's get right to it!

Day 5 - Monday, November 27, 2017

We did something we rarely ever do while at Disney, we "slept in".  This simply means we didn't set the alarm during the 5 or 6 o'clock hours and didn't rush to rope drop a park.  We still boarded a bus in the morning, but we decided to give ourselves a more leisurely start to this particular day which was nice.  (I will say that if our vacation wasn't over two weeks long we would never do that.  We're big advocates of being there before the park opens to make the most of the lower crowd levels.  Extended stays allow us the freedom to switch things up a bit every now and then when we feel it'd be beneficial. :))

Lunch at Satu'li Canteen

Our highly anticipated first lunch at Pandora's new quick service restaurant, Satu'li Canteen, did not disappoint!  Here's a peek inside this beautiful restaurant and the tastiness found therein!

I tried the Pandoran Sunrise, advertised as a "refreshing balance of Tropical Juices blended with Powerade Melon".  This drink was mediocre in my opinion.  It wasn't bad, but just wasn't flavorful enough to spend nearly $5 on.  Still, it's always fun to sample new things!

Jason and I decided to order a couple different entrees to share so we could try a variety of things from this fun menu!  First, we ordered from the Create-Your-Own Satu'li Bowl choosing slow-roasted sliced grilled beef as our protein, mixed whole grain and rice as the base, and creamy herb for the sauce.  Each bowl is also served with crunchy vegetable slaw and bursting boba balls.  It was scrumptious!

Secondly, we ordered cheeseburger pods served with root vegetable chips and crunchy vegetable slaw.  This was really fun to try, but ultimately I didn't eat as much from this plate as the beef bowl was too good to resist and this just wasn't my favorite.

Cheesing in front of a cool wall I always enjoy snapping pics by!

Our first ride of the day was Dinosaur!

I guess we were still pretty tired. ;)  My family always comes up with these poses for ride photos, yet no matter what the plan I always end up smiling.  I guess I'm not a very good actor, or I smile in my sleep?  Ha!

Time for an expedition!  Expedition Everest, that is!

We faced the yeti and lived to tell the tale, then headed over to my favorite park stage show, Finding Nemo The Musical!

We typically sit a couple rows back from the second tier of seating, but this time we opted for the front section.  Gotta mix it up now and then.  It was fun taking it in from a different perspective.

I can't resist a few pre-show snapshots!

After wiping tears from my eyes (that show gets me every time), we headed back to Pandora for another ride on Flight of Passage followed by a beautiful beverage!  Oh, how I love that night blossom!

These adorable ears were created by my sweet and incredibly talented friend Chrissy of AdventuresInDIYShop on Etsy!

While that drink of mine may have been the prettiest, sweetest sip in the park, Little One was about to score the most perfect popcorn pup there ever was!

Cute Christmas sweater sporting, santa hat adorning, Mickey's pal Pluto delivered delicious buttery goodness and offered inexpensive refills throughout the trip too!

If you look closely, way at the tip top of that dino's noggin you'll see a santa hat!  Honestly, it's a bit hard to see in person too!

Remember that bowl of ooey gooey goodness from our first day in Animal Kingdom?  It's baaaack!  How could we resist?!

This is sure to be a repeat snack/meal for all future trips that it remains on the menu!

Bus time!  Anyone else love when Disney/Pixar/Marvel movies find their way on Disney buses and monorails?  I think it's so fun, especially when done up in such bright cheery colors!

We headed back to the resort for a little refresh time before another evening in the parks.

A sweet shot of this perfect pooch on the table back at our resort

We had a nice break and decided on another in-room pizza party for dinner before heading out for late night in Magic Kingdom.  Hope you'll be back next week to hear all about it!

Thanks so much for coming along for another day of pixie dusted perfection in the Parks!  Hope you'll be back again for more next Tuesday!

  3. I cannot wait to go back to Animal Kingdom soon and see the whole Pandora area! Between that, Toy Story, and Star Wars, I need to plan a trip to Disney in the next year or so. Our favorite at AK is always the bird show :)

    1. You will absolutely LOVE Pandora, Meg!! It is stunning!! These new additions are so exciting! So many reasons to return (as if either of us needed any excuse - lol)! Flight of Passage is such a fun show! We did hit it later in the trip. :) Did you hear that they've changed it? It's now called, "UP! A Great Bird Adventure". I'm looking forward to seeing it this fall. I'm curious to see if it's a similar show but now featuring Russell and Dug from Up!

  4. Satu'li Canteen was so crowded last summer when we went, so I am hoping to get to dine there next summer! Your beverage, the night blossom? It looks good and I like those little edible beads on the top of the drink!

    1. Whenever we aren't able to do something on a Disney vacation I always see it as something fun to look forward next trip! Hope it works out for you to visit Satu'li Canteen next time around. :) The night blossom is available at the little grab and go place called Pongu Pongu (right outside of Satu'li Canteen) and is definitely a must-try! I will say it's super sweet, but that's part of what I think makes it such a fun vacation drink! I rarely passed through Pandora without ordering one! Ha! Thanks for visiting, Carrie! It is so much fun to share with sweet Disney loving friends like you! :D

  6. Well, surely you took notes while you were there in order to remember all these details from over 6 months ago. Very enjoyable recapping and as I've said before, not sure how you and your family endured two weeks of Disney but sounds like it was a most enjoyable time.

    1. Believe it or not I didn't take any notes! I did however take several hundred pictures every day and my husband takes a ton of video for our family YouTube channel (I post a direct link to those Disney videos at the end of each post). So, in prep for these recaps I sort through pictures and watch his video footage from each day and it brings it all back - each ride, bite, and beautiful memory! You're right, it was a most enjoyable time! :)
