Trip Report Tuesday // WDW Day 8

Welcome to the first Trip Report Tuesday of 2014!  I'm back with all of the magical details from day 8 {of 17} of our recent trip to Walt Disney World!

Day 8 - Thursday, September 26, 2013

Lunch at Columbia Harbor House

Columbia Harbor House is one of Jason's personal favorite Disney counter service restaurants, because in his words, "It's tasty and healthy!"  He recommends their grilled salmon with couscous and steam fresh broccoli.  I typically go with the ol' standby of chicken breast nuggets and fries along with an {un}healthy helping of barbecue sauce 'n ranch dressing, following by Disney's chocolate cake. Mmm ;)  Their menu features multiple seafood offerings, chicken, sandwiches, and sides like New England Clam Chowder.  If you're looking for delicious counter service while in the Magic Kingdom, I'd recommend you find a table upstairs at Columbia Harbor House with a window facing out towards Fantasyland.  It's a great place to satisfy your grumbling tummy and do some people watching too.

With full bellies, we headed off on a pirate adventure!

Fun in the shop that follows one of our family favorites, Pirates of the Caribbean

My Favorite Celebratory Photo of the Trip!

Dinner at Le Cellier, Canada Pavilion, EPCOT

Food Photos {Left to Right}:  1. Complimentary Bread  2. Angus New York Strip Steak served with Potato Pave, Caramelized Onions, and Vin Rouge Reduction  3. "Le Cellier" Mushroom Filet Mignon - AAA Canadian Beef Tenderloin, Wild Mushroom Risotto, Pickled Pearl Onions, White Truffle-Butter Sauce  4. Appetizer: Le Cellier "Poutine"  5. Neopolitan Cappuccino Cake  6. Maple Creme Brûlée  7. Kids Ice Cream Sundae
Little One had a grilled chicken breast with rice and green beans (not pictured), and Princess ordered the same as Jason so it's only pictured once.  Jason and I shared a bowl of Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup, which somehow I neglected to snap a photo of!  The lighting is extremely low in there which adds a beautiful ambience, but makes photographing difficult.  Perhaps I was too excited about the cheesy goodness to fiddle around with my camera during that portion of the meal! ;)

This was our family's first time dining at Le Cellier.  Our visit was during Disney's free dining promotion.  Although we only had to pay for tip {plus the cost of appetizers we chose to order above what's included in the dining plan}, this $200+ meal cost us two dining credits.  We didn't mind using an extra table service credit as we were thrilled to try this extremely popular steakhouse tucked away in the Canada pavilion of EPCOT's World Showcase.  Their complimentary pretzel bread and Le Cellier Poutine made their way on to my list of Favorite Disney Eats 2013.  However, my steak was pretty forgettable.  This was partially my fault, as I ordered their Angus New York Strip, rather than their famed Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon.  Both the NY Strip and Filet are the same price {a whopping $44.00}, but not likely equal in flavor.  Jason ordered the Mushroom Filet Mignon and really enjoyed it.  He would add that he'd never pay that price out of pocket for it though.  We enjoy steaks of equal/better quality at home for much less.  Maybe we're spoiled living in the Omaha area as we have amazing steaks here, likely making us tough critics to impress.  I will say that I would go back simply for the Le Cellier Poutine and a bowl of their Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup.   Those two would {currently} only set you back $17, and are each worth the visit in my book!

Girls Night Out with Princess at Downtown Disney

Port Orleans Riverside offers complimentary ferry boat rides to and from Downtown Disney.  Princess and I took advantage of this, enjoying a beautiful evening cruise on the Sassagoula River for a girls night out!

We LOVE Tren-D! Notice the Mickey under the mannequin's eye.  How darling is that detail?  This is where I bought my favorite souvenir of the trip.

We shopped, giggled, snacked, and chatting our way through a very memorable evening together!  This night was one of the highlights of our entire trip!

Thanks so much for visiting today!  Here's a sneak peek at what's to come next Trip Report Tuesday...

  4. If we ever get to go back, I would love to try LeCellier. Our time always got away and have never got to eat there. Wow, didn't know the prices were that high. We love Downtown Disney too. I still have my favorite hat that I got there.
