Trip Report Tuesday! WDW Day 2

Ready to hear about day two of our trip?  Good!  I can hardly wait to share it with ya, friends!

Day 2 - Friday, September 20, 2013

Running at Disney.  It's like running at home, but with fish conga lines and giant friendly potatoes!

We started our day with a beautiful morning run on Art of Animation's 1.38-mile trail that curves around Hourglass Lake.  Along the way we enjoyed the bright and playful courtyards themed after the Disney/Pixar movies, Cars, Finding Nemo, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid.   It was fun to circle the lake and catch a glimpse of the themed fun at the Pop Century Resort too!  Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head told me to tell you all, "Hello!" ;)

Cooling off with a refreshing swim in Flippin' Fins!

There's no rule about waiting to eat after swimming!
Do the girls' meals look familiar?  They both so enjoyed what they eat there the day before that they each repeated their orders on day 2!  Jason thoroughly enjoyed his Surf and Surf Burger (crab cake, fried popcorn shrimp, tomato, lettuce, cajun remoulade on a brioche bun with coleslaw).  He said it was one of the best meals he had during our trip!  I went for a Create-Your-Own-Salad.  It was so fresh and delicious!

Little One and I enjoyed some one on one time with a fun Disney Dessert Date!  I chose the ALMOST too-cute-to-eat Mickey Ganache, while she went straight for the Mickey cupcake with Oreo ears! Our time together was even sweeter than the YUMMY desserts!

Exploring Our Resort

The girls thought we were only spending our first night at Disney's Art of Animation Resort before moving on to Port Orleans Riverside.  (That was the original plan.)  We told them we had a little time to check out the resort more before we had to check out of it...

An Unexpected Sight That was Quite a Delight!
We love watching Disney YouTube videos at our house!  While we were prepping for our vacation we stumbled upon a new-to-us channel, "SeeYaReelSoon".  I had their vids running the entire time I was packing and we watched several of them as a family leading up to our trip.  I heard them mention in one that they'd be at WDW the same time we were.  This randomly came up in conversation around the pool that morning.  I told Jason how much I'd love to meet them and let them know we enjoy their videos.  He thought in all of WDW it was pretty unlikely that we'd actually bump into them.  However, as we were wrapping up our resort exploration the unlikely happened (as it often does at WDW ... it must be Disney magic! ;))  Jason turned to me and said, "There they are."  Confused, I asked, "Who?"  Then across the courtyard I saw Joe and Ashley of "See Ya Reel Soon"

{It's a small world after all!  It's a small, small world!}

It was such a treat to chat with them for a few minutes!  They were so incredibly warm, friendly, and fun to talk to!  They're currently posting videos from their recent vacation, and have a new one up each Wednesday.  So, go check them out! ...after you're done reading this trip report, of course. ;)

"Surprise!"
We headed back to our room as the girls thought it was time to pack up, but we still had a few more surprises to unpack for them!  Not only were we spending one more night at the Art of Animation Resort, our trip would be longer than they anticipated, too!  They were expecting to have two weeks total at WDW, but we were to stay at Art of Animation a second night, and then enjoy two full weeks at Port Orleans Riverside!

As if that weren't enough excitement, we had something very special {& not-so-scary} in store for that evening!

"Boo to You! A Trick or Treat!"
We tricked the girls.  Jason and I had one more treat up our sleeves!  They were a little bummed that we weren't planning to go to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this trip.  They had no idea that I put my Birthday money towards a gift for our entire family - party tickets! (Thanks again to my sweet parents & in-laws!)  The excitement on the girls' faces as they literally jumped for joy over the news, was the best gift ever!

Magic Kingdom Bound!
The party doesn't officially begin until 7:00pm, but party admission grants you access to the Park at 4:00.  We took full advantage of those extra three hours before the festivities began!

We rode a few of our favorites, which of course included Pirates of the Caribbean and the Haunted Mansion! Then headed to Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe for some dinner.  Can't party on an empty stomach! ;)

Each trip we make sure to dine at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe at least once to enjoy the "out of this world" entertainment.  I got the 1/2 rotisserie chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans.  Little One went for the chicken nuggets and grapes, while Princess chose a good ol' PB&J uncrustable and some fries.  Jason got his "usual", a burger,  because there's a TOPPINGS BAR!

If you caught my DIY Mickey Mouse Glow Necklaces post, you know that we created our party accessories right there at the table after dinner!

Party Time!

Our favorite parade!

There's nothing quite like the special atmosphere at Mickey's Not-So-Scary!

A party exclusive fireworks spectacular, HalloWishes!

It was truly a day to remember!  We created magical memories that'll be cherished for a lifetime!

Hope you'll be back to hear about Day 3, next Tuesday!

Here's a sneak peek at what's to come next week...
Day 3 included checking into our Royal Room at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside, SEVEN layer chocolate cake, Disney {mini} golf, a GREAT time singing and dancing the night away {yeehaw!}  ...and much more!
