Five Loves on Friday

Happy Friday!  I hope you've all enjoyed a merry little week!  Before the weekend makes its way to us, I've got a handful of faves from the past few days to share with you!

1.  A Fun Evening for All

Monday night was Princess' annual youth group Christmas party.  While she was having a ball at church, Jason and I took Little One out for some fun around town.  We swung by McD's for her dinner request of a Happy Meal, then headed to Pepperjax where Jason and I enjoyed some famous phillies!  We dined in the car, sorta like an old fashion drive-in, minus the rollerskating car attendants.  We enjoyed chatting between bites, and before long began talking dessert.  (How we found room for all that, I have no clue!)  I snagged a small Candy Cane Oreo Blizzard and didn't regret a single scrumptious spoonful!  After satisfying that sweet tooth, Little One asked if we could pop by Dollar Tree.  Her enthusiasm over the idea swayed her dad to drive there immediately.  $11 later we were heading back to the church with a bag full of fun finds!  It was a simple, yet sweet night for all!

2.  General Tso's on Gingerbread

Tuesday night my mom invited the girls over to bake Christmas cookies.  Jason and I opted for a date night in with some tasty takeout.  I tell ya what, everything tastes better served on Christmas plates!  We purchased this gingerbread cuteness in sets of dinner and dessert plates, bowls and mugs, our first December as Mr. and Mrs..  Eighteen Christmas seasons later they're delighting me daily!

3.  Christmas Memory Making in Progress

Each evening the girls and I have been snuggling up under my Christmastime covers to read Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol.  Reading through this classic together has been such a treat!  We've already declared it a new tradition!

4.  Wrapping & Watching

Wednesday night while Jason was playing guitar in practice for this Sunday's worship service, and the girls were in class/youth group, I was home taking care of {Christmas} business.  I wrapped while watching Christmas episodes of everything from Seinfeld to Hart of Dixie.  I thought I'd have time to tackle ALL of our gifts before they returned home.  Yet, in two hours time only managed to wrap and tuck my girls' gifts under the twinkling glow of the Christmas tree!  I may have gotten a bit carried away this year!

5.  It's the little things...

...like a sweet seasonally wrapped sip my hubby brought me home from work this week!  He knows those cute Coke bottles always make me smile!  His thoughtfulness makes my heart oh so happy!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope this weekend will be a wonderful one for you!

  13. I love the idea of reading a Christmas story together every night! We've done that with chapter books, but not a Christmas-themed one. We have been reading lots of Christmas picture books at bedtime though. We bought a matching set of Christmas dinnerware many years ago, since we host Christmas every year. Your post made me realize that we don't need to just eat Christmas dinner on those plates! Chinese take-out sounds great to have on them and other dinners as well! Have a great weekend!

  14. Sounds like such a fun week, especially taking her to McD while you and your husband ordered the food you wanted :) Lol! We have done that before. I have all of the kids stockings wrapped, but still need to wrap their presents. Its amazing how much time it takes to wrap everything...

  16. I love Christmas dishes! We eat off nothing but those all month long. :) I watched all The Office Christmas episodes when I put up the tree, but I didn't even think to do that with Seinfeld. That's happening soon. :) Happy weekend, friend!

  19. I'm late to the party here (at least I don't think I already commented??).
I've never read Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol before - crazy! I must not have had to read it at school, but I remember my brother taking me to see Mickey's A Christmas Carol at the movie theater when I was little! (and of course, I cried. lol) What a nice tradition you've started. :)
I spy some Target & Disney packages - the best kind! lol Did you use those re-usable bags as gift bags??? Why have I never thought to do that? I've given those away as "extra" gifts before, but should have used them as the gift bag. Doh! Good idea!
Wish I could have been there to help you wrap! I always think I'm going to get more done than I actually do too. LOL!
