Five Loves on Friday

Happy Friday!  I hope you've enjoyed a great week! I'm looking forward to sharing the highlights from mine with you now.  It's Five Loves time!

1.  Family Time

After a decade of sharing a bedroom our girls are getting their own rooms!  My dad helped Jason with some home renovations last weekend to make this possible.  (Thanks again, Dad!)  While the guys were hard at work, my mom joined the girls and I for a Friday evening in chatting, and a Saturday afternoon of shopping!  We enjoyed the extra time with my parents and appreciate their continued support in always lending a hand in any way they can!  Hooray for sweet family!

Gathering around the table with family and food is always such fun!  Princess got this first framed print in honor of the lullaby Grandma Kathy sang to her as a child, "You are my Sunshine".  Grandma bought Little One this My Little Pony canvas for her new space.  Originally $30 it was marked down to $6 - such a bargain!   It was a wonderful and very productive weekend!

2. Golden Goodness

You saw the first piece of decor for Princess' new room above.  That gorgeous gold lettering inspired our entire shopping spree to fill her new space with all things fabulous!  Everything I bought her was on sale a whopping 50% off at Hobby Lobby!

Hobby Lobby sales are the BEST! I didn't pay more than $12.50 for anything we bought!  I have to admit I sorta wish this was all going in my own bedroom! HA!!  Swooning over every last item purchased!  SO EXCITED for her and LOVE my girl's style! Looking forward to helping Little One decorate her new space soon too!

3.  Mommy/Daughter Day

Princess spent a day/night with her Great Aunt Ednah this week helping her out with some cleaning and organization around her house.  Meanwhile, Little One and I soaked up the rare one on one time together!  If you follow on Instagram you already know that we returned to Hobby Lobby and Dollar Tree!  What can I say, we love to shop til we drop or until I've dropped too much money at any one store. ;)

Little One is such a fun shopping buddy!  To see some more of her silliness, pop over to Insta.  Bottom Left Photo:  Goodies from Dollar Tree - a TY Beanie Ball "Brittany" from Alvin and the Chipmunks // Bottom Right Photo:  Her Hobby Lobby Haul -  flower, bright bird from the spring section, play glasses to decorate, panda sleep mask (that I keep telling her we should remove the ears from and add a black line between the eyes to transform it to a Baymax mask ;))

I'm SO glad that we went back to good ol' Hobby Lobby, because they just put all their "Spring Shop" stuff on sale for 80% off that morning!  Let me tell you, I wanted to just throw my arms out and sweep ALL that cheery goodness into my cart (or carts if necessary), but I did show some self control.  Wanna see what made it's way home with me?

I did get a couple more things that I plan to work into my home decor.  I'll share those a bit later. ;)

Themed Lunch Fun
...because shopping works up an appetite!

Little One asked if we could go to Dollar Tree especially for the TY Beanie Ball "Brittany" that we'd seen there over the weekend.  We borrowed Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked from my parents, and at her request we picked up Long John Silvers.  We had our own little pretend private island fun with this flick and lunch!

Lil' Pirates Meal + Chipwrecked = Fun Lunchtime!  How could she resist trying out her new fuzzy panda sleep mask too?  {However, no nap was in sight. ...Although her mama is always up for one of those!}

4.  Our Biggest Bicycle Adventure Yet!

I didn't get all the one-on-one fun with Little One.  We enjoyed a fantastic family night as a Platt trio too!  We hopped on our bikes for our longest family bike ride to date, 6.62 miles of family fun! SO MUCH FUN!

5.  Happy Mail

  1. Brenda, loving the theme going here . . . shopping! As you know, one-on-one dates are the best with our kids. Exploring sales and hunting for bargains is still our favorite thing to do. So happy to see other people's parents lending helping hands in the daily lives of their adult children. Enjoy your weekend.

  12. All the shopping!! So fun going to Hobby Lobby. I wish ours was just a wee bit closer. That is a new adventure getting their own spaces. I mean I'm an only child so I don't really know, but I'd imagine with age they'd each want their own little sanctum.
